With the common aim of serving and strengthening scientific research and the academic sector in several aspects, a Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) was inked between the National Agricultural Research Center(NARC) and the Hashemite University (HU); The (MoU) signed by Dr.Nizar Haddad, Director- General of NARC and the HU president Prof. Dr. Kamal al-Din Bani Hani.

The purpose of this memorandum is to intensify scientific corporation between the two sides by several collaborative activities in several fields of research through practical experience exchange, research training programs provided by NARC to the students of the Faculty of Natural Resources and Environment, in addition to the professional expertise necessary to achieve an advanced and comprehensive development process in Jordan. The memorandum also included common utilization of technical, laboratory equipment and logistical resources and expertise of the two parties.

Other issues the memorandum included are cooperation and experience exchange between NARC researchers and HU faculty, in conducting studies, academic and research project proposals to avail funds from local and international partners for joint activities, besides the mutual efforts to get smart applications for joint ventures.

At the same time, NARC researchers will be involved in agricultural graduating projects, and in directing students towards projects compatible with the National Strategic Goals, as well as utilization NARC laboratories and research stations as a platform for projects and scientific experiments. Besides the database and scientific references exchanging and the creating of investment opportunities.

Haddad welcomed future cooperation with the University through building bridges of research cooperation in several fields and availing research centers for supporting the academic sector, to help students overcome difficulties and to motivate them to be creative and to create an attractive environment for innovative projects.

Haddad pointed out that NARC has concluded several agreements with Jordanian and foreign universities to upgrade the scientific research and achieve sustainable development, stressing that partnership with academic institutions is an integral part of scientific research and modern technology.

On his part, Dr. Bani Hani explicated that in addition to the academic excellence of the HU, it adopted a self-sustainment strategy so that it doesn’’t rely on the government general budget. At the same time HU provided NARC with the Ion Chromatography Technique analyzer, a device that will promote NARC’’s services for both farmers and researchers, Bani Hani added. Paying attention that it is quite significant for the university to benefit from NARC to align the outcomes of university education with the labor market. Dr. Bani Hani added that the NARC plays a pivotal role in developing the College of His Highness Prince Hassan For Dry Lands by training and qualifying students at NARC’’s labs. and research stations.
