NARC Workshop on Breeding Fish in Floating Cages in Ghor Al Safi

In cooperation with JICA, the Fish Research Department and Ghor Al Safi Agricultural Research Station organized a participatory workshop with fish farmers in Ghor Al Safi to evaluate the results of floating cages for fish breeding.

Haddad stated that these development projects are implemented collaboratively with civil society institutions and associations, from NARC's deep belief in the participatory approach to increase the number of beneficiaries.

'The dissemination of the concept of fish farming in Ghor Al Safi in cooperation with local and international partners has been one of the issues researchers at NARC take into consideration with efforts to overcome the challenges facing farmers like the scarcity of resources and harsh conditions of nature'. Haddad said.

The management of floating cages, calculating weekly feed quantities according to different temperatures and different fish weights, were of the most important topics addressed in the workshop, as per the head of fish department Eng. Ahmed Khraisat.

Head of Ghor Al Safi Agricultural Research Station Eng. Wissam Al Nawaiseh said that marketing products is one of the priorities, in order to avoid frost damage, explaining that 'floating cages' is considered the best and easiest way for fish breeding.

Mrs. Salima Al Masri, one of the beneficiaries of the project, expressed her appreciation to the role of NARC in spreading the concept of fish farming in Ghor Al Safi that help to find additional sources of income for families.
