The initiative of "Farming the Future" resumes its activities at NARC

A group of 25 students from the 8th and 10th grades at the Elia Arab School visited the green facilities of NARC as a sequel to "Farming the Future" initiative that was launched in June 2019 as an activity of the project "Improvement of Green Infrastructure in Jordan through Labor- Intensive Measures" in cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).

Dr. Sireen Naoum, Project's Director at NARC, considered this visit an attempt to inform students in schools and community members about the importance of the ecological garden through this initiative, for directing students to the path of optimal exploitation of resources through the application of this technology in school gardens and homes, reusing some factory wastes of barrels, timber and other natural wastes in the components of the ecological garden to create opportunities that aim at preserving the environment and achieve agricultural sustainability through the optimal exploitation of resources. She also came across some of benefits of the ecological garden of reducing the adverse impacts of climate change, increasing the oxygen content, in addition to the aesthetic features it adds.

The project coordinator and director of the Directorate of Institutional Development and Knowledge Management Eng. Asmahan Hattar welcomed the students and introduced them to NARC, its goals and aspirations, in addition to introducing them to the main objectives of "Farming the Future" Initiative.

Ms. Bara'a Al Zabin, who was accompanying the students, expressed her felicity on the role of NARC raising the awareness of students on the outputs of scientific research, fostering the spirit for work to be entrepreneurs themselves to achieve the goals of social responsibility through NARC's staff.

During the visit, Eng. Mutasim Khreisat and Eng. Khulood Al Khalayleh presented the students to the ecological garden and its components. The visit was concluded with a contest for the students on the knowledge gained from the visit.
