Haddad and Khaddam in an Inspection visit to Field Schools in the Jordan Valley

The Director General of the National Agricultural Research Center 'NARC' , Dr. Nizar Haddad, accompanied by the President of the Jordan Valley Farmers' Union, Mr. Adnan Khaddam, made an inspection visit to a number of pioneer projects implemented by NARC in Deir Alla.

The visit targeted the follow up of the activities of the farmers' field and manufacturing schools within IFAD funded Rural Economic Development and Employment Project. They also met a number of owners with success stories and participants in the project.

Haddad said that this visit is significant since it provides a chance to inspect the achievements of the project and field schools on the ground and their impact on small local farmers and beneficiary rural communities and women in Deir Alla, stating that the role of farmers' field schools is noticed in improving household income and developing livelihoods and transforming families into productive ones by empowering them in the field and at home.

The President of the Jordan Valley Farmers' Union, Mr. Adnan Khaddam, expressed his appreciation to the role played by NARC in the Jordan Valley, presenting a group of pioneering projects through which highly valued products are engaged in the local and international markets due to their competitive value.

The project coordinator Eng. Haitham Hamdan, captioned some figures that reflected the statistics of the last three years for the project, where the number of farmer field schools in Deir Alla reached 26. He also added that the number of beneficiaries in Deir Alla constitutes 24% of the overall number on beneficiaries in the Jordanian governorates.
