Delegation from Taipei visits NARC to discuss launching development programs

The National Agricultural Research Center (NARC) Director-General Dr. Nizar Haddad received the representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Amman Ismail Mai to discuss means of future cooperation in many agricultural fields, especially in the field of developing shrimp breeding, fish farming and tropical agriculture, in the presence of specialized experts from the International Cooperation and Development Fund (ICDF).

During the meeting, Haddad gave a brief about NARC’s research departments research goals and its vision and mission as well.

He further referred to the areas through which cooperation can be achieved to launch a development project to promote developing shrimp breeding, fish farming and tropical agriculture and to build the capabilities of researchers in the field of biological diversity , in addition to the possibility of hosting researchers from Taipei, preparing training programs for NARC’s staff and exchanging experiences in several fields.

For his part, Ismail Mai praised the research efforts exerted by NARC’s cadres and expressed his readiness to cooperate in areas of mutual interest.

Mai said Jordan is among the countries in the region that enjoy good relations with Taipei dating back to decades ago, noting that these relations are in many fields, including agriculture.

He pointed out that his country works closely with Jordan in a number of programs related to development and agriculture, the waste-to-energy project and water harvesting projects are among its most important achievements.

During the week-long visit, NARC’s specialists briefed the Taipei delegation about part of its cadres’ research efforts in the field of fish farming and tropical agriculture.
