NARC Organizes Workshop on 'Leveraging Biodiversity for Sustainable Agriculture through Knowledge Exchange'

Dr. Khaled Abu Hammour, Director General of the National Agricultural Research Center "NARC", sponsored the opening ceremony of a workshop on 'Leveraging Biodiversity for Sustainable Agriculture through Knowledge Exchange.' The workshop was held in cooperation with the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange "TAIEX" program, funded by the European Union, and in collaboration with the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation.
Abu Hammour stated that this workshop aims to build the capacities of agricultural engineers within the Ministry of Agriculture, in addition to promoting knowledge exchange and modern practices in preserving plant genetic resources used in food and agriculture. He also mentioned that the workshop will address the importance of international cooperation in facing ongoing agricultural challenges and ensuring crop diversity.
Abu Hammour further added that this workshop serves as a dynamic platform for exchanging experiences between local and international researchers, enhancing cooperation in the field of sustainable agriculture and preserving biodiversity. It will also help participants gain knowledge about modern agricultural techniques, which contribute to enhancing Jordan's agricultural strategy. Additionally, the workshop will focus on adapting sustainable solutions to local conditions, such as drought resistance and pest control.
NARC, as the scientific arm of the Ministry of Agriculture, plays a crucial role in supporting and implementing sustainable agricultural research and developing strategies for protecting genetic resources. The goals of this workshop align with NARC's vision of enhancing local capacity and opening new horizons for agricultural innovation, which contribute to achieving food security and environmental sustainability in Jordan.
This workshop is an important step towards advancing knowledge and cooperation in the field of sustainable agriculture, benefiting the Jordanian agricultural community and strengthening NARC's ability to address future challenges.
